Getting started on the Grid A step-by-step guide You will need a Personal certificate to start using Grid services. Applying for a personal certificate Download and fill in the user certificate application form (PDF form | DOC form) Prepare the following documents: 1)User Certificate Application Form, 2)Work ID 3)Official form of Identification (Passport, National ID or Driver's license) Contact your nearest local Registration Authority (RA). The list of RAs is available at http://ca.grid.sinica.edu.tw/contact.html Meet with the local Registration Authority (RA) to verify your identity. The RA will also sign on your user application form. Fax the signed application form to +886-2-2783-7653 and send a verification e-mail to asgcca--at--grid.sinica.edu.tw after faxing the form. There will be no confirmation e-mail after submitting the form. Immediately after submitting the application form, using the computer that you want to access your grid services with, create a certificate signing request (CSR) online at http://ca.grid.sinica.edu.tw/certificate/request/cert.php. NOTE: Please select AP (Asia Pacific) as your organization if you are applying from a country outside of Taiwan. A verification e-mail will be sent. Please verify your request once you receive the e-mail. Once verified, the request will take about 3 days to process. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a serial number. Using the computer and web browser you intend to use for accessing the grid services, key in your serial number and download your certificate at http://ca.grid.sinica.edu.tw/certificate/request/import_cert.html 2. Storing your personal certificate Import your user certificate to your web browser: For users using Firefox, it will automatically install the certificate and pop up a dialog that says: "Your personal certificate has been installed. You should keep a backup copy of this certificate.". You can find your certificate in the "Tools-->Options...-->Advanced-->View Certificates-->Your Certificates". Note: If you use firefox 1.5 to request certificate, there is no pop up dialog for notification, but the user certificate is still imported into the firefox successfully, you can find it in the "Edit-->Preferences-->Advanced-->Security-->View Certificates-->Your Certificates". For users using IE and Safari will get a certificate named "xxxx.cer(crt)", please double click to import user certificate into your Browser. You can find your certificate in the "Tools-->Internet Options-->Content-->Certificates-->personal". Backup your certificate by following the tutorial in http://ca.grid.sinica.edu.tw/certificate/request/certificate_management.html 3. Go to https://vomrs.grid.sinica.edu.tw:8443/vomrs/euasia/vomrs. Click on Registration Phase I. Fill in the form and submit. You will receive a confirmation email few minutes later. Click on the link in the confirmation e-mail, which will take you to Registration Phase II. Complete Registration Phase II by downloading and reading the Grid and VO AUPs and clicking on the register button. Notify the VO manager at asgcvomrs--at--twgrid.org to approve the membership request. Once approved (or denied), a notification e-mail will be sent to you.
